Hardware and software meshed together in a fluid, upbeat, polished and focused album for Copenhagen-based Russian Corvette’s latest release on Unit Shifter. Drum machines driven by funky melodies and classic braindance rhythms, there’s a certain feel transmitted on Forever Endeavor that simply sparks as vintage synthesizers and nostalgic moods oscillate. Opening with “Arcadia,” video-game dynamics are meshed within emotive breaks and bass as “Mytopia” finds itself amid Detroit strands where analog machines dip through downtempo vistas.

Russian Corvette manages to deliver fresh and upbeat tracks, start to finish. On the bubbling “Cygnus,” 808 stabs are submerged with lightly peppered vocoder bits, its melodic sunburst juggled like a fine sonic craftsman. The viscosity of each track is smooth and translucent—tracks like “Night Vessel” emit a surreal synaptic sheen—flowing sound sculpture that are both ethereal and contemplative, allowing the artist to stretch abstract boundaries through tranquilized scenes admitting a fusion of hip-hop/electro extracts (“Traced Erased”) to more subdued ambient/soundtrack slivers (“Warped” and “Levitan Trail”).

A powerful, playful, and punctuated album set to rattle the braindance community.
